Berkshire Bank Foundations
The Berkshire Bank Foundations are guided by the values of
the financial institutions that created them, a strong commitment
to community, to leadership, and to preserving the character
of our communities while fostering change that will keep communities
strong and vital. The Foundations share a vision of healthy,
vibrant, sustainable communities where educational and economic
opportunity abound.
In carrying out its work, the Foundations follow the stewardship
principles for corporate grant makers adopted in 2004 by the
Council on Foundations:
| |
| 1. We have governing boards that establish the mission,
guide the operations, oversee the effectiveness, ensure
the ethical conduct and monitor the fiscal affairs of
the foundations. |
| 2. We recognize and act upon our obligations to multiple
stakeholders: the corporate donor and its directors
and employees, shareholders, grantees and grant seekers,
the public and governmental bodies. |
| 3. We respect our nonprofit partners' missions and
expertise and strive for relationships based on candor,
understanding and fairness. |
| 4. We welcome public comment and communicate openly.
|
| 5. Our philanthropic activities are aligned with
the company's vision, mission, values, culture and strategies.
