Berkshire Bank’s Annual Xtraordinary Day Strengthens Communities in Five States

Pittsfield, MA - Fri., June 17, 2022 – Berkshire Bank, a leading socially responsible community-dedicated bank with branch locations in New England and New York, recently hosted their signature day of service, Xtraordinary Day (X-Day) on June 8.  During X-Day, the Bank closes offices and branches for the afternoon to give back to the community. This year, Berkshire Bank partnered with 39 non-profit organizations and over 1,000 Berkshire Bankers, nearly 80% of the company, invested the afternoon volunteering for 46 community projects across MA, NY, CT, RI, and VT. In total, employees contributed over 5,000 volunteer hours to support the vibrancy of communities where Berkshire lives, works, and plays.

This year’s Xtraordinary Day highlights included:

  • Helping to package approximately 100,000 meals

  • Transforming whole neighborhoods by building, painting, cleaning and gardening

  • Protecting the environment by cleaning up beaches and parks

  • Building 27 beds for children to have a place to sleep

For over 175 years, Berkshire has been there to help its customers and communities. The company believes empowering the success of those it serves drives its own success. In addition to X-Day, each year the Foundation donates $3 million to nonprofits throughout the Bank's footprint. The Company also provides employees with paid time off to volunteer through its XTEAM® corporate volunteer program.
