Boston Business Journal names Berkshire Bank among the
most charitable companies in Massachusetts
Recognized as Top Charitable Contributor for the 10th Straight Year

Boston, MA - Fri., Sept. 9, 2022 – The Boston Business Journal (BBJ) yesterday named Berkshire Bank an honoree in its annual 2022 Corporate Citizenship Awards, in recognition of the region's top corporate charitable contributors. The BBJ annually publishes this list to showcase companies that promote and prioritize giving back to their communities, which is even more important in the challenging times collectively experienced throughout 2021.

Berkshire Bank was honored with a Corporate Citizenship Award and ranked #37 with $1,873,545 in contributions on the list of 95 awardees. Berkshire Bank was honored at the BBJ’s 17th Annual Corporate Citizenship Awards at the Revere Hotel Boston Common. The evening was filled with networking, making connections, and recognizing all the charitable contributors, the Alnoba Lewis Family Foundation CEO Social Leadership Awardee, and our 2022 Corporate Citizenship Community Collaboration Awardees.

“For more than 175 years, Berkshire has been a purpose-driven bank and an engine for positive change. We are honored to be recognized for this annual award as a Top Charitable Contributor for the 10th straight year by the Boston Business Journal. This award symbolizes our multi-year, multibillion-dollar BEST Community Comeback transformational pledge to help the communities we serve in reaching their untapped potential and thrive,” stated Lori Gazzillo Kiely, SVP, Regional President for Berkshire County and Vermont, and Director of the Berkshire Bank Foundation.  When people ask what fuels us, we imagine better communities.

“The past couple of years have presented companies and communities with many challenges, and the needs have continued to grow. The Boston Business Journal presented their list of the Top Charitable Contributors in Massachusetts – companies who gave $100,000 or more to Massachusetts-based in charities in 2021. Collectively, they gave $322 million in cash contributions – a true example of the business community coming together to help those in need.  We are proud to celebrate these organizations who give both money and time to make Boston a stronger and better place for all,” said Boston Business Journal Market President and Publisher Carolyn Jones.

This year, 95 companies qualified for the distinction by reporting at least $100,000 in cash contributions to Massachusetts-based charities last year as noted above. The honorees this year include companies from such industries as financial and professional services, health care, technology, retail, and professional sports.

The Boston Business Journal is the region's premier business media organization, one of 44 markets owned by American City Business Journals.
