ACH Fast Credit

ACH Fast Credit is an enhancement to our current ACH services that allows Berkshire Bank to post credits up to 2 days early, depending on when the item is received, allowing our customers to have access to their hard earned money sooner.

ACH Fast Credit applies to ALL incoming consumer ACH credits in to a consumer’s account in the form of ACH.  This would include items such as paycheck direct deposits, Federal tax returns, Social Security direct deposits, alimony or child support payments and much more.

ACH Fast Credit is available only for consumer transactions that come through with the Nacha Standard Entry Class code of PPD which stands for Prearranged Payment and Deposit.  This includes all of the types of credits mentioned above (direct deposit, federal tax return, social security, alimony, child support, etc.).  Most business transactions are coded as CCD/CTX, which stands for Corporate Credit or Debit and are not eligible for ACH Fast Credit.

Apple Pay

You can now use an eligible Berkshire Bank Debit MasterCard® with Apple Pay to pay on the go at merchants who accept contactless payments, and in participating merchant apps wherever Apple Pay is accepted. As a Berkshire Bank Debit MasterCard® holder, you can also get these features in Apple Pay:

  • Real-time notifications and details for your purchases when you use Apple Pay on iPhone® or iPad®. Notifications will be for your transactions made with Apple Pay.
  • View transactions within the AMEB Mobile app for enhanced account monitoring, and servicing on the go.

At this time, Berkshire Bank Debit MasterCard® is eligible for enrollment.

For information on the compatibility of your device and to learn more about how to use Apple Pay, please visit apple.com/apple-pay.

You can use Apple Pay to make payments in stores with supported devices wherever contactless payments are accepted. Just look for the contactless and/or Apple Pay symbol at checkout.

You can also use Apple Pay in participating merchant apps with supported devices. Look for the “Buy with Apple Pay” or “Apple Pay” button at checkout within the apps. Visit apple.com/apple-pay for a list of merchants where in-app payments are accepted.

We will never share your plastic Card number with Apple. To deliver you the best Apple Pay experience, we will display certain account information on your device, such as data for your recent purchases, for each Card you have selected to use with Apple Pay, but not your full account information. At any time, you can turn off the display of transaction data manually within Apple Pay by adjusting the “Card Notifications” for each Card. If you have any additional questions about your device’s security features, please contact Apple directly.

Your Card in Apple Pay is protected by “Touch ID” and/or your device “Passcode.” For your security, when you make a purchase using Apple Pay, you must either use “Touch ID” or the “Passcode” for your device. All of your payment information will be encrypted in the Secure Element, a dedicated chip in your device.

To add your Berkshire Bank Debit MasterCard® on a supported iPhone or iPad, go to “Settings,” open “Passbook & Apple Pay,” and select “Add Credit or Debit Card.” On a supported iPhone, you can also open the Passbook app to add a Card.

To add your Berkshire Bank Debit MasterCard® on Apple Watch, you must first pair your Watch with a supported iPhone running on iOS 8.2 or later using the Apple Watch app. Once paired, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, select "Passbook & Apple Pay" and then tap "Add Credit or Debit Card."

Please note that the iPhone 5, 5c and 5s only enable payments for the Apple Watch. Payments cannot be made with the iPhone 5, 5c or 5s alone.

When adding your Card, you can choose to add the Card you already have on file with iTunes or add new Cards by manually entering your Card information or taking a picture of your Card. You will always need to accept the Berkshire Bank Terms of Use for Apple Pay each time you add a Card to Apple Pay. You are also subject to Apple’s own terms & conditions.

If some of your personal information cannot be verified systematically, you may be prompted to contact Berkshire Bank at: 833.BERKBNK.  For your security, you will be asked questions by one of our friendly customer service representatives.  After they are able to confirm your identity, they will complete the enrollment process in a few minutes time.

Yes. At this time, Apple allows up to 8 Cards on a device.

Yes, you can add your Card on up to 10 devices. Please note that your Card must be added to each device separately.

Yes. However, only one Apple Watch can be paired with one iPhone.

There is no cost associated with adding your card to Apple Pay, although it does require an active data plan. Note that additional message and data charges may apply.

Your credit card’s terms and conditions, and your debit card’s Deposit Account Agreement will apply to all Apple Pay purchases.

To remove your Card on iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, select “Remove Card” in the “Passbook & Apple Pay” section of your device “Settings” or on the back of your Card in the Passbook app. You can also visit icloud.com/settings to remove your Card or “Find My iPhone” to temporarily suspend or permanently remove the ability to pay with your Cards on your device.

To remove your Card on Apple Watch, go to "Passbook" on your Apple Watch device, select your Card then hold and tap "Delete" to remove your Card. Additionally, you can remove your Card using the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Open the Apple Watch app, select "Passbook & Apple Pay", then select your Card and navigate to the bottom and tap "Remove Card."

Please note that you can always visit icloud.com/settings to remove your Card on Apple Watch.

For your security, when you add your Berkshire Bank Debit MasterCard® to Apple Pay, a “Device Account Number” is created by Apple Pay for that card on that device. It is separate and unique to your device and different from your plastic card number. Your Device Account Number is used to make purchases with your card using Apple Pay. Your debit card number is never shared with merchants or transmitted with payments.

All transactions completed with Apple Pay will appear on your Berkshire Bank billing statement as a normal point of sale transaction.

If you need to make a return for a purchase made with Apple Pay you can receive refunds to your account. The key difference is that you may be asked to provide to the cashier the last four digits of your Device Account Number instead of the last few digits of your Card number. To find the last four digits of your Device Account Number for your Card, visit the “Passbook & Apple Pay” section of your device “Settings” or on the back of your Card in the Passbook app.

Your card image may appear differently in Apple Pay, but the last 4 digits of your card appear at the bottom of the card in Passbook so you know the correct card was loaded into Apple Pay.

Apple Pay is locked when the device is locked. Touch ID is required in order to use Apple Pay.

If you are having difficulty with your software or hardware, please contact Apple (apple.com/apple-pay).

If you are shopping at a participating retailer, Apple Pay will work outside of the United States.

Yes, Apple Pay will work with chip cards.

Go to Passbook in your iPhone General Settings to set your default card.

For iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, you can view and manage your Cards in Apple Pay by going to “Settings” and selecting “Passbook & Apple Pay.” By tapping on an individual Card, you can view the “Transaction Display” and manage the settings associated with that Card in Apple Pay.

For iPhone 6, you can also view and manage your Cards in the Passbook app. When you select an individual Card, you can tap the “i” to get to the back of the Card, where you can view the “Transaction Display” and manage the settings associated with that Card in Apple Pay.

For Apple Watch, you can view and manage your Cards on Apple Watch within the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Simply tap on an individual Card to manage the settings associated with that Card in Apple Pay. The Apple Watch app will not display transaction detail or transaction history.

You will receive “Card Notifications” for your Berkshire Bank Debit MasterCard® in Apple Pay on iPhone and iPad letting you know about purchases made with your plastic Card and purchases made in Apple Pay. You can turn your notifications on or off by adjusting the “Card Notifications” settings for each Card within the “Passbook & Apple Pay” section of your device “Settings.” Please keep in mind that by turning off your “Card Notifications,” you will no longer receive transaction notifications or other special messages from Berkshire Bank Debit MasterCard® on the front of your Card, and you will no longer see your transaction history on the back of your Card in Apple Pay.

You will not receive specific "Card Notifications" for Cards added to Apple Pay for your Apple Watch.

You may receive notifications on your Apple Watch if you have a Card added to Apple Pay on your paired iPhone and have push notifications enabled.

You may also receive notifications on your Apple Watch if you have an active Berkshire Bank Debit MasterCard® Pass for Passbook.

If you do not want to receive these notifications on your Apple Watch, visit the notifications section under "General Settings" in the Apple Watch app on your supported device and unselect "Passbook & Apple Pay."

Berkshire Bank has enabled Card Members to see their last 10 purchases in the “Transaction Display” of their Card in Apple Pay on iPhone or iPad. The “Transaction Display” will show the last 10 purchases you’ve made with both your plastic Card and Card using Apple Pay. You can turn “Transaction Display” off when you turn off your “Card Notifications” in the “Passbook & Apple Pay” section of your device “Settings.”

Apple Pay will only include your last 10 purchases. For all official statement information, please refer to your Card account information in the AMEB mobile app. If you suspect that there has been fraudulent activity on your account, please contact Berkshire Bank at the number on the back of your Card.

No. Your Device Account Number is connected to your new Card number automatically. You can use your Card in Apple Pay to make transactions before receiving your new plastic Card.

If you believe your device or Apple Pay Card information has been lost, stolen or compromised in any way, call Berkshire Bank immediately at the number on the back of your Card.

For iPhone or iPad, you can go to the Find My iPhone app to temporarily suspend or permanently remove the ability to make payments from your device, even if your device is offline. If you suspend your Card(s) using Find My iPhone, you can reactivate your Card(s) simply by unlocking your device and entering your Apple ID "Passcode" when prompted. For any supported Apple device, you can always go to icloud.com/settings, choose the applicable device and delete your Card(s).

Courtesy Pay

There are no additional costs associated with the overdraft protection service unless you use Courtesy Pay℠. Checks drawn up to your Courtesy Pay℠ limit will generally not be automatically returned unpaid, but will be considered for payment using your Courtesy Pay℠ limit. This can save you the high costs and embarrassment associated with returned check fees charged by merchants and retailers. For each overdraft we pay on your eligible checking account, we will charge the standard per item overdraft fee set forth in our Common Features Fee Schedule (currently $37.00). In addition, a Continuous OD (Overdraft) Fee of $35.00 will be imposed every five (5) business days until you bring your account positive. This fee is applied to your account when it has been overdrawn for five (5) or more consecutive business days. A maximum of five (5) charges or $175 will be charged for each time period your account remains in a negative status. Other fees can lead to a negative balance, which can lead to additional fees. This fee is in addition to Overdraft Item and NSF Return Item fees that may apply to your account for each overdraft or returned item. You can avoid this fee by promptly covering your overdraft – deposit or transfer enough available funds to cover your overdraft, plus any fees we assessed, within the first 5 consecutive business days that your account is overdrawn.

No. Courtesy Pay℠ is a discretionary service and may be applied to any qualifying checking account that meets the requirements for good standing.

Personal checking* $750

Business checking* $1,500

Not all checking accounts are eligible and some restrictions apply to eligible accounts. Courtesy Pay℠ is not available to account holders less than 18 years of age. Your Courtesy Pay℠ limit will include standard NSF/overdraft fees that are charged to your account. Please note that both per item and Continuous Overdraft Fees count toward your Courtesy Pay℠ limit. We may in our sole discretion limit the number of accounts eligible for Courtesy Pay℠ to one account per household or per taxpayer identification number. Some restrictions apply and you should read our Courtesy Pay℠ Disclosure for more information.

Overdrafts beyond your established Courtesy Pay℠ limit, or if you do not maintain your account in good standing as defined in our Courtesy Pay℠ Disclosure, may result in checks being returned to the payee. The fee for paying an item is the same as for returning one. A standard NSF/overdraft fee will be charged and assessed to your account for each item. We will continue to notify you electronically (if we receive your consent) or by mail of all paid and returned overdrafts, and of our fees for these overdrafts.

You need to bring your account balance positive promptly, or upon our demand. If you are not able to repay as we require, you will receive a letter informing you of your options. If, after a period of time, your account has not been brought into a positive balance, we will have no option but to close your account and take steps to recover the funds.

The account types that are eligible for Courtesy Pay℠ Service are: Personal Checking, NOW Checking, and Business Checking.

If you feel this service is not for you, please let us know. We have other options that may help to cover inadvertent overdrafts, such as lines of credit and transfers between accounts. We would be happy to discuss these alternatives with you.

The convenience of Courtesy Pay℠ is available for checks and other transactions made using your checking account number, automatic bill payments, ATM transactions and everyday debit card transactions initiated for payment against your checking account (if opted in). Rather than automatically declining the transactions that qualify when there are insufficient funds in your account, we will consider payment of reasonable overdrafts.

The available balance is the amount of funds you can use for withdrawal from your account without causing an overdraft. The order in which you make withdrawals from your account may not be the same as the order in which those transactions are posted. For example, when you write a check to pay a merchant, the merchant may not present the check to us for payment until several days later. Sometimes funds in your account are not available to cover your checks and other items, and it may appear that you have enough funds in your account to cover a debit but still get an overdraft fee on the debit. This can occur when your account balance included funds that were not available at the time we processed the debit. Funds subject to a hold, dispute or legal process are not available funds.

When a transaction is “posted,” the dollar value of that transaction is added to or subtracted from the balance of your account.  For example, POS (Point of Sale) debit card transactions reduce your available balance at the time you authorize your purchase. Overdraft fees (if applicable) are assessed on POS debit card transactions at the time a POS becomes final, which in some cases may take several days. If your account does not have a sufficient available balance, the posting order can impact the number of overdraft fees you incur. When we process multiple transactions in a single business day, we may post items in any order. We generally group transactions in categories by type of transaction and post in the order they are presented (time stamped). The following are the most common categories and types:

  • Deposits that have become available to you post first
  • We then may charge for any debt owed to us. In most cases, fees related to transactions would be assessed the day of the transaction and would be deducted from the available balance after the transaction is completed
  • We pay Debit items in the following order:
    • Wire transfers, ATM and POS debit card transactions, in-person withdrawals and checks cashed at a Berkshire Bank branch, internal transfers to other Berkshire Bank accounts, payments and transfers initiated via Online Banking, and returned deposited items
    • ACH debits that you have preauthorized then post lowest to highest dollar amount
    • Checks not presented in-person at a Berkshire Bank branch post lowest to highest dollar amount
  • We then typically assess any Overdraft Fee, NSF Return Item Fee (Insufficient Funds), UAF Overdraft Fee (Uncollected/Unavailable Funds Fee) on the day the debit caused the overdraft or returned item. More than one overdraft fee may be charged against the account per day, not to exceed 5 per day. Continuous OD (overdraft) fees are assessed on the fifth business day that the balance has been overdrawn. The fee would be deducted from the available balance at that time
  • Service Charges that will be assessed at the end of your statement cycle may include a Monthly Maintenance Service Charge, Below Minimum Balance Maintenance Fee, or Returned Mail Fee (If applicable)

We may give preference to any fees, charges, checks, debits or other items payable to us. However, if for some reason we must manually post your payments, items presented for payment may be paid in an order we select. If you are expecting a credit to your account by ACH, you should not schedule a debit to occur on the same day as your ACH credit may not be received until after your debit, resulting in an overdraft. For example, an ACH withdrawal transaction may be held for up to two business days before it posts to your account. We may change our posting order at any time, but we will notify you if such a change may affect you adversely. On your account statement we do not necessarily report debits and credits in the order that we posted them to your account.  If an item is presented without sufficient available funds in your account to pay it, we may, at our discretion, pay the item (creating an overdraft) or return the item (NSF). The amounts of the overdraft and NSF fees are disclosed elsewhere. We encourage you to make careful records and practice good account management. This will help you to avoid writing checks or drafts without sufficient available funds and incurring the resulting fees.

For more information, call 833.BERKBNK, or stop into any Berkshire Bank office.

Important:

To avoid an overdraft, you can stop any ATM/debit card transaction by pressing “cancel” at any time prior to completing a withdrawal, transfer or purchase. We are not promising to always pay your overdrafts with this discretionary service, not all accounts are eligible, and some restrictions do apply.

No. If you wish to receive information about a loan that your name is not on, a borrower or authorized representative of the loan must submit a written authorization for Berkshire Bank to speak with you about the loan

Please email [email protected] with your name, loan number, and the day you would like the payoff quote for. We provide a quote up to 15 days in advance.

If you are interested in applying for a new loan or refinancing your current loan, please stop into a local branch.  For a new mortgage, please contact Berkshire Bank Home Lending at (844) 277-0077.

Once you have paid off your loan and submitted the recording fee, please allow up to 30 days to receive a letter confirming that your loan has been paid off and that a discharge of mortgage has been mailed to your local recording district.

Each state charges a fee to record a discharge of mortgage. The fee varies by state and, in some states such as New York, by county. As a convenience to our borrowers, Berkshire Bank collects this fee at the time of loan payoff and mails the discharge of mortgage and recording fee directly to the local recording district to expedite the discharge process. There may also be a processing fee assessed.

Please send us an email to [email protected] with the subject “Old Discharge Needed” and include in the message your name, the date the loan originated, and the recorded mortgage.

Once the information has been received, it may take up to two weeks to prepare and mail the discharge to the local recording district.

The bank will notify you of its credit decision within 30 days. For additional questions, please contact your mortgage loan originator directly or Berkshire Bank Home Lending at 1 (844) 277-0077

Proof of homeowners insurance will be required annually. Please make sure your insurance agent has our correct mortgagee clause:

Berkshire Bank
ISAOA/ATIMA
PO Box 150
Northville, NY 12134

Proof of insurance can be faxed to 518-863-7362.

A homeowners insurance (or hazard insurance) policy covers loss from damages to your home, your belongings and accidents as outlined in your policy.  Generally, mortgage insurance is required if you have less than 20% equity (or down payment) in your home and protects the mortgage lender from losses if a customer is unable to make loan payments and defaults on the loan.

If you obtained your loan after July 29, 1999, you can request cancellation of PMI when your loan- to-value (LTV) reaches 80%.

Cancellation requires that you have a good payment history, the property value has not decreased, and you can certify that there are no liens against your property.

Lenders are required (by the Homeowner's Protection Act of 1998) to terminate PMI at 78% LTV (based on the amortization schedule) if the loan is current or has reached the midpoint of the payoff.

Other circumstances may apply.  Please contact Loan Servicing for additional information.

If your condo association adjusts the amount of your fees, we require written notification of these changes directly from you.

If you have an escrow account for property taxes, we will disburse the property taxes on your behalf.  You do not need to mail the tax bills to Berkshire Bank.  Berkshire Bank will receive a bill directly from the municipality.  You can keep the bill for your records.

Payment of the supplemental property tax bill would remain the responsibility of the homeowner(s).  The monthly payment(s) collected as part of an escrow account are for the scheduled tax payment(s) when they become due.  A supplemental property tax bill is not a regularly scheduled tax payment.

Each year your escrow account is reviewed to determine if the amount being escrowed each month is sufficient to pay for any changes in your real estate taxes or homeowners insurance.  Berkshire Bank analyzes escrow accounts every year in May for a July payment change.

Escrow shortages should be mailed directly to the escrow department at:

Berkshire Bank
Escrow Department
PO Box 1308
Pittsfield, MA 01202

Borrowers may voluntarily establish an escrow account. If this is of interest, please contact the Escrow Department at Berkshire Bank Loan Servicing.

Surplus escrow funds are typically returned within 10 business days after the date of the payoff transaction.  If you are moving, please be certain to provide your new mailing address.

Payments should be made according to your regular repayment schedule.  The repayment schedule cannot change after origination.  You may make additional payments at your discretion, but please indicate at the time of submission how you want the additional payments applied, e.g. entirely to principal.

If you are more than 15 days delinquent on your mortgage, please contact the Collections team at Berkshire Bank to discuss loss mitigation options. If you are not yet 15 days delinquent, or anticipate future hardship, please contact the Loan Servicing team and ask about available modification opportunities.

Yes, until the loan is paid in full you are still responsible repaying the balance even if a total loss occurs.

For warranty: 2-4 weeks from notice of total loss.

For GAP: 4-6 weeks from notice of total loss.

Typically, a lien release will be available ten (10) business days after pay off.

If you are in NY the title will be mailed to you from the DMV 6-8 weeks after purchase.
If you are in MA your title is electronic.
If you are in CT, VT, or TN the bank holds the paper title.

Please contact us for information regarding other states or any additional title questions at (800) 773-5601, ext. 138564.

Personal Banking

To open a deposit account, stop by your nearest Berkshire Bank office. You also have the option of opening select personal accounts through our website by accessing the Personal Banking page and choosing the Open a Personal Account link. Please note, you will need an acceptable form of ID.

Reorders can be placed on our website by clicking on the Check Order link, through Online Banking or at any bank office. If you need to change the style, name, address or mailing address of your last check order, please reorder through your nearest Berkshire Bank office.

The cost of checks varies depending on the style or amount ordered. For updated prices, stop by or call any Berkshire Bank office.

The charge for new checks is applied to your account when your order is shipped or approximately one week after ordering.

The easiest way to balance your checking account is to carefully enter all transactions in your register as they occur. Do not forget to add additional charges such as ATM fees, service charges, etc. When you receive a statement or are reviewing your account online, we recommend the following:

  1. Make sure you enter and add all deposits in your checkbook register such as interest, electronic transfer credits, and ATM deposits that appear on your bank statement.
  2. Enter and subtract from your checkbook register any charges on your statement not yet deducted from your register, such as a charge for checks, service charge, electronic transfer charges or ATM withdrawals.
  3. List the ending balance of your account shown on your statement and add to that balance any deposits made after the date of the statement. List the total of these items and subtract the amount of outstanding checks (checks that you have recorded but do not appear on your statement). This total should agree with your checkbook balance.

We use the daily balance method to calculate interest on your account. This method applies a periodic rate to the principal in your account each day. Interest is compounded and credited monthly. The stated APY (Annual Percentage Yield) assumes the funds remain on deposit for one year at the same interest rate.

Yes. Making an ATM deposit is as safe as making a deposit at a Berkshire Bank office. Your ATM deposit will be recorded by bank personnel to ensure it is properly credited to your account.

No. Not at this time. However, we hope to be adding this feature soon.

Yes. Your card can be used any place that displays the Cirrus logo.

Bring your ATM or Berkshire Bank Debit Card to any branch or call 833-BERKBNK during normal business hours. A representative will verify your identity and issue you a new PIN, which will be mailed to your primary address.

The standard daily cash withdrawal limit is $1,000 per day for Berkshire Bank Debit Cards and $500 per day for ATM Cards. Funds availability may be limited by factors such as your current available balance or a predetermined authorized daily limit established at your request.

The standard point-of-sale and purchase limit is $5,000 per day. Funds availability may be limited by factors such as your current available balance or a predetermined authorized daily limit established at your request.

No. The debit card will withdraw funds from your checking account. It will not allow you to exceed the balance in your account or to draw on a line of credit.

In short, it works like a check, only better. The MasterCard® Express Card is still your ATM card, but you can also use it to make purchases from your checking account everywhere you see the MasterCard® symbol. Present the card at the time of payment the same way you would present a credit card. The merchant will give you a receipt to sign and the amount of the purchase will automatically be deducted from your checking account.

While you're at the checkout counter, there is no difference. The only difference is how the money is settled from your account. Debit Card purchases are deducted from your checking account, just like a check, by accessing the available funds in your account. Credit card purchases are billed at the end of a cycle and are subject to interest charges if the balance is not paid in full. Although your Berkshire Bank Debit Card can act like a credit card, the funds will be automatically withdrawn from your checking account when you use it to make a purchase.

A chip card is like the card you have today, but includes an embedded microchip. The chip contains information that is encrypted - making it extremely difficult for the card to be copied or counterfeited. Your chip card will also have a magnetic stripe on the back, so that you can continue using your card while merchants are transitioning to new chip-enabled terminals.

Use your chip card at the same merchants you do now -- either by inserting the card into terminals that are chip-enabled or swiping your card. You can also continue to use your card as you did before for online payments, telephone payments and at ATMs.

When your card is inserted in the terminal the chip communicates with the terminal to determine whether the card is authentic. Typically, the terminal will prompt you to enter a PIN to validate your identity. Once approved, your transaction will be complete.

A stop payment is a request to prohibit a payee from cashing a paper check that has been issued in his or her name.

A stop payment request is valid for six months if received in writing or 14 calendar days for a verbal request. A stop payment does not renew automatically. To renew a stop payment request, you must submit a new request in writing before the six-month expiration date.

To add an additional signer to your account, both signers must visit a local branch so that the prospective co-signer can be identified and the signature card can be updated.

APY stands for the Annual Percentage Yield. This is a percentage rate reflecting the total amount of interest paid on your account, based on the interest rate and the frequency of compounding for a one-year period. The period depends on the actual number of days in a year.

APR stands for Annual Percentage Rate and is the total financing costs associated with a loan on an annualized basis, divided by the amount borrowed.

The ACH (Automated Clearing House) network is a nationwide electronic funds transfer system for participating depository financial institutions. The ACH network is commonly used for direct deposit of payroll and government benefits such as Social Security, direct payment of consumer bills, business-to-business payments, federal tax payments, and e-commerce payments.

Rates are changed weekly or at the Bank's discretion.

For determining the availability of your deposits, every day is a business day except Saturdays, Sundays and Federal holidays. If you make a deposit at our teller line before closing (or before 5:00 pm at one of our ATMs or using our Mobile Banking product) on a business day that we are open, we will consider that day to be the day of your deposit. However, if you make a deposit after closing (or after 5:00 pm at one of our ATMs or using our Mobile Banking product) or on a day we are not open, we will consider that the deposit was made on the next business day we are open. If you initiate a transfer before 11:00 pm on a business day the bank is open using our Online Banking product or our Telephone Banking service, we will consider that day to be the day of your deposit. However, if you make a transfer after these cut off times or on a day we are not open, we will consider that the deposit was made on the next business day we are open.

In some circumstances, longer delays may apply. For more details stop by or contact a Berkshire Bank office.

Remote Deposit

Remote Deposit offers your business the ability to (1) capture the images and transaction information of checks accepted for payment and (2) deliver this information electronically to Berkshire Bank as if the items had been physically received and captured.

You can eliminate time causing manual deposit preparation and trips to the bank, while improving the speed and efficiency of both collections and returns.

Using Internet based technology, you submit checks for deposit using a PC and scanner located at your business. Each check scanned for deposit generates an electronic image that is transmitted to Berkshire Bank. The deposit will be credited at the end of the day. Funds will be available the next day.

As long as you transmit your deposit by 5:00 pm, it will be effective today and available tomorrow, allowing you to invest faster, or pay down on debt sooner.

Individuals already in charge of manually preparing and making deposits are typically the main users. Your business will receive your choice of personal on-site or remote access training from Berkshire Bank staff and a training guide.

The cutoff time for same day deposits is 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Saturday deposits will roll over to Monday.

Upon submitting a completed application and receiving approval you are usually depositing within 5 business days.

You will retain the original checks in a secure location for 30 days at which time they should be destroyed.

Fees do apply, please speak to your cash management officer for detailed information.

Checks are scanned through a secure internet based site by an authorized individual chosen by an account signer. User profiles can be established to allow multiple individuals to scan if necessary. All user profiles are password protected and check files are encrypted.
